The signature dish. When Jules talks about Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, clouds part and celestial choirs sing. Jules loves this wine because it is so expressive of where it was grown. It’s a grape that, within a row - even within a bunch - has a mind-blowing range of characters. This is a benchmark Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - dry, aromatic, and full of full-throttle flavour, just the way Jules likes it.

JULES TAYLOR SAUVIGNON BLANC 2025

"This vintage of veteran winemaker Jules Taylor's classic Sauvignon Blanc is singing. Bright and bouncy, with passionfruit, lemon-lime, pink grapefruit, fresh tarragon, and basil aromas. The palate is zippy and fresh, a shooting star of acidity amidst an intriguing creamy-pithy texture combo with a wild edge to the long herb-flecked citrus finish that makes the mouth water for more."

JULES TAYLOR SAUVIGNON BLANC 2025

"It’s perhaps no surprise that the two Jules Taylor wines in our line-up this year are both Sauvignon Blancs. Although Jules also makes Pinot Gris, Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it’s Sauvignon that has a special place in her heart. Jules was born and bred in Marlborough and, as she puts it, ‘grew up with Sauvignon Blanc’, and her love for it shines through her wines. Her classic Sauvignon is a pan-regional blend that we admire most for its elegance, integrity and understated charm. Yes, it’s full of typical Marlborough grassy, gooseberry flavours, but they’re not shouty. Instead, they’re engagingly woven into a wine that draws you in and leaves you wanting more."

JULES TAYLOR SAUVIGNON BLANC 2025

"A very zesty, energetic nose of pineapple, cut grass, pink grapefruit, jalapeño and lime leaf. Equally zesty and zippy on the palate with a pleasing stony texture, not a big bold style, this has good finesse. The acid is bright and juicy adding a good line of tension. The satisfying salinity and slight pithiness to the finish makes this an attractive, sophisticated style."

"Crisp, fruity and dry with a mix of cape gooseberry, nettles, lees and fruit. The palate has a simplicity overall yet the citrus and nttles, goosberry qualities come through well as the wine warms on the palate. Crisp, ctirus flavours with lemon then gooseberry. Low herb."

JULES TAYLOR MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024

"So 2025 marks the twenty-fifth vintage for Jules Taylor, and with this release you can see where twenty-four years of winemaking excellence can get you! A delightfully expressive example of the variety and place. From the go it's red apple skin, passionfruit, blackcurrant leaf and a suggestion of the hallmark gooseberry, here honed rather than allowed free reign. The palate possesses a quartzy minerality, with a little salinity roaming through the finish. A lovely example."

CRAZY ABOUT SAUVIGNON BLANC

Jules explains why she loves Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc so much.

For Marlborough born Jules, Sauvignon Blanc is personal. It's the variety that put New Zealand on the world wine map, and nowhere else in the world has that exact combination of soils, UV light, and daily temperature shifts to rival Marlborough's intense powerful flavours.

Jules spends weeks before harvest pacing the rows, tasting the berries to capture the perfect moment to pick and lock in all those flavours. "It jumps out of the glass," she says — and even when travelling overseas, one sniff takes her straight back home.

FOOD MATCH

Sauvignon Blanc's intense flavours and juicy acidity make it a great wine to pair with bold dishes. Try it alongside casual fresh sourdough dunked in good quality olive oil and plenty of dukkah, or for a main course try crispy skinned snapper fillet with warm puy lentils and a herby lemon sauce.

VINTAGE NOTES

Marlborough was blessed with another dry and generally warm growing season through 2024/25. Summer arrived early with warm, settled weather through late November and December. This was ideal for flowering across for all varieties, and led to a high potential yield across the region. A cooler January saw high yields become more obvious as berries developed, and growers worked hard to monitor and manage their crops, reducing them where necessary. The weather warmed up again in February, and ripening sped up once more with flavours developing well leading in to harvest. Picking began on the 25th of February, with the first Sauvignon Blanc harvested on 17th March. Interestingly early picks were close to the same dates last year. However, this season was more spread out and stable weather and nice clean fruit meant Jules was able to take her time, harvesting blocks as they reached their peak flavours.

WINEMAKING

The fruit for this wine was grown in the Taylor Pass, Lower Wairau, Hawkesbury and Awatere sub-regions of Marlborough, avoiding the main Wairau Valley floor sites. Each block was individually tended throughout the season, ensuring grapes reached optimum ripeness. With a dedicated harvesting crew on hand we were able to harvest each block individually once the fruit was ripe and the flavours were perfect. At the winery the grapes were pressed into stainless steel tanks for cold settling before gently racking off juice lees. The juice was inoculated with aromatic yeasts and gently fermented at cool temperatures to enhance the wine’s aromas and flavours. It was then left to settle on its yeast lees for a very short period before being racked. Then came the best part; each batch was tasted, and the final blend created! The resulting wine was then cold stabilised, filtered, bottled, and sealed with a screwcap to ensure perfect freshness.
